The Kahilu Theatre is located at 67-1186 Lindsey Road in the green rolling hills of Waimea (aka Kamuela) at the 2700 ft elevation of Hawai`i Island. Founded in 1980 by Richard Smart, heir to the Parker Ranch and accomplished Broadway actor, Kahilu Theatre presents dynamic performers from all over the world and around the state to Hawai’i Island residents and visitors. The theatre has a 490-seat concert hall, a Black Box performance venue, as well as two gallery spaces.
The Kahilu Theatre’s mission is to make a place where community, creativity, and inspiration thrive. This mission is grounded in our belief that the arts are an essential part of a thriving community.
Since its inception—more than three decades ago—the Kahilu has presented more than 500 performances by artists—both big names and small. Dance troupes, plays, symphony orchestras, chamber quartets, acrobats, jugglers, taiko drummers, jazz bands, ballet dancers, comedians, pianists, guitarists, Hawaiian musicians, opera companies, singers, and performance artists of every description have all graced the Kahilu Stage.
